9 Digital Ecologies: presences and co-creation in virtuality

Project name

9 Digital Ecologies: presences and co-creation in virtuality

Type of product

Research and creation.

Principal Investigator

Andrés Uriel Pérez Vallejo.

Participating groups

PRACMA.

Topic

Artistic creation in virtual environments.

Methodology

The qualitative methodological approach responds to the type of research enunciated by Borgdorff (2006) as research in the arts (p. 09). Its characteristics, in relation to the objectives outlined, outline the stages, components, activities and products that make up the research proposal in question.

Summary of the project

9 Digital Ecologies: presences and co-creation in virtuality is presented as a possibility to expand the questions around co-creation in virtuality, in particular, because of the dialogic relationships that have been erected in everyday and work environments due to the pandemic. Therefore, it is proposed that the space for dialogic and creative exchange should configure a point of convergence to develop academic discussions and reflections on how virtuality intervenes in the realization of artistic processes, as well as to stimulate the search for and development of methodologies that mediate between diverse academic, research and social actors for the creation and dissemination of works and creative processes.

For this purpose, it is necessary to approach the questions from the use of current technological tools and the theoretical foundations on the virtualization of the artist, the creative process, the work and the receiver.

In this context, joint work is proposed between the Universidad de Antioquia, the ITM, the Universidad Católica Luis Amigó and the Universidad de Caldas. In this way, through the integration of the processes and the installed capacity of the institutions, a sociocultural impact is generated through the relationship between academia and the community.

Thus, in 2021, the Department of Plastic Arts of the University of Caldas will be linked to this research, integrating students and professors of seedbeds (SIFANA/SIAM/SESS) and research laboratories (MONITORLAB).

The confinement led the researchers to the analysis and use of specialized software in 3D surveys, 360 applications, digitalization techniques and rendering of the artwork.

This allowed the development of 3 virtual museographic activities through the cultural project of the Pinacoteca: The 6th University Exhibition of analog photography, the project “Residing and resisting in virtuality: 1st Exhibition of creation of research seedlings in art, design and communication” and the creative exhibition held at the Palace of Culture of Medellin.

These activities allowed the researchers to exhibit collective creation works and develop creation laboratories in virtual platforms.

These research results have crossed the threshold of presentiality and confinement, leading the artist to the digitalization of the work of art, which expands on the academic and co-creation threshold in virtuality.
